Board Member, San Bruno Park Elementary School District

Also on the ballot for the November 3 election is board member for the SB Park elementary school district. Here is a quick rundown of the situation. The candidates are: Maria Araujo, James Prescott, William “skip” Henderson, Charles “Chuck” Zelnik, Jr. and Henry C. Sanchez.

James R. Prescott. He is the incumbent and carries the creds to go with it. A teaching credential from Saint Mary’s, a degree in organization behavior and a member of the PTA. His priorites are generic and ambiguous, in my opinion.

Maria Araujo. Another member of the Araujo family attempts to enter into public office. There is little or no information about her, we should do something about that.

William “Skip” Henderson. Currently the governing board member of the SB school district. If we read between the lines, is this a step down or a lateral move? Something else?

Charles “Chuck” Zelnick, Jr. Trustee of the SB park school district for six years. The interesting thing about this candidate is that his priorities are not generic. He want’s to do some district reconfiguration and build a new middle school. He also would like fiscal solvency and to increase the state rankings of SB schools. It sounds like this cat really has some S.M.A.R.T goals at work!

Henry C. Sanchez. Physician and Stanford Grad. His priorities are not as clear as candidate Zelnicks, but he would like fiscal sovency and to implement more technology in the classroom.

This could be an interesting one. Lots of new candidates, and some definate priorites that indicate change in the works. The school district reconfiguration could be  a really hot topic, and the next board meeting has a discussion on whether to reinstate the Reconfiguration Committee on the agenda.
