San Bruno City Hall
Officially opened and dedicated on September 19, 1953, San Bruno City Hall is located at 567 El Camino Real. The City Hall complex, which sits on a 3.4 acre site along the El Camino Real, was dedicated amid much pomp and circumstance. City Attorney Rudolph Rapsey was the master of ceremonies while Congressman J. Arthur Younger gave the dedication speech. Also in attendance were Mayor J.V. Fitzgerald Jr., San Bruno City council members and the U.S. Marine Corps Band. Reverend Mudock, pastor of St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church, gave the Convocation while crowds stood along the two lanes that made up El Camino Real.
The 1953 building with 14,500 square feet of floor space cost $244,125 and was paid for immediately at the insistence of then councilman William “Hard Hat” Maurer.
