San Bruno Public Library
The San Bruno Public Library, located at the corner of Angus and El Camino Real, was built in 1955 and paid for by available funds. Since then, it has taken on many more functions then were originally intended. While the library still lends books, audio and video are available. In addition, the library provides internet access to the public on numerous computers.
Prior to its current location, the San Bruno library was originated in 1925 by Mrs. Bellamy of 617 Easton Avenue. Her store allowed kids to buy candy while they read or checked out books stacked on many shelves. In 1937, newly appointed librarian Mrs. Decima Allen took over the library site until a new library was built on Jenevein Avenue between El Camino and San Mateo Avenues. This structure, built on land purchased from the Jenevein family, was torn down when the new library on Angus and El Camino was opened.
