El Crystal Elementary
El Crystal Elementary school, located at 201 N. Balboa Ave., was built in 1940′s on the plush land that now makes up San Bruno City Park. Located inbetween the iconic Huntington Park and Parkview Terrace neighborhoods, El Crystal school is truly considered a jewel of the area by its residents, students and alumni.
El Crystal is currently supports a strong technology based cirriculum. A California Distinguished School and home to the Danford Center for Innovation, the school is in its third year as a demonstration school for the Integration of Cirriculum and Technology.
El Crystal and the Krause Center for Innovation (KCI)at Foothill College in Los Altos Hills have entered into a partnership to establish the Danford Center for Innovation on the El Crystal campus. The Krause Center provides leadership and training for integrating technology throughout the curriculum to classroom teachers in grades Kindergarten through 12th grade.
The Danford Center(DCI) for Innovation will serve educators in the San Bruno Park School District as well as those throughout the northern section of San Mateo County. The Center is named to honor the Danford Foundation which has donated over $200,000 to both El Crystal and Parkside to support the implementation of technology.
